I want to try some curly koa bindings on a E.I. Rosewood & Sitka OM. It appears that LMII or stew-mac doesn't have a matching koa backstrip or end graft. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you own or have access to a bandsaw? You could buy a small length of curly koa and resaw some binding and a small piece for end graft. If not maybe you could put up a wanted ad in the classifieds for some binding and an end graft.

You can use a piece of binding for your backstrip. Add your own lines on either side of it.

Same with the end graft. You can make it simple, or you can make if fancy by using the binding to build up a more complex endgraft.

Here's some shots of one that I just finiished that did just that. (Although I made my own binding)

To make the end piece appear larger you can stack up and taper it. I have used the technique .

That's a good idea, and you might even want to use the koa headplate as a headplate, with scrap left for the the other parts of the guitar.

These are all good suggestions and I do have a bandsaw so I will definitely saw my own at some point.

Or yo could buy a Koa headstock veneer and cut several wedges, thats what I do
