Yes, I finally can say I have built a guitar!! - with tremendous help and wisdom from all of you awesome builders on the OLF. Thank you all.

I just got it strung up this weekend - it has been about 14 months since I began, and I know of about 10000 things to fix on my next one. But, it sounds great! Very loud and "warm." AND!!! It didn't even explode when I put the stings on - I imagine this is a common 1st build fear.

It is Sitka Spruce, EIRW, with RW FB and Bridge, Mahogany/RW nect, and all Maple for bindings/end graft. It is an OM that I based on my wife's Taylor 214. I need to still do some work to bring the action down, but it is not too bad as is. Oh, finish is TruOil - and I needed to put a lot more work into the top finish but I am moving out of country (off to BC) next week, so time was up.

Looks great!!!!!

It's still a relief to me when they don't fly apart when I put the strings on :D

Very awesome guitar and a great feeling, too, I am sure. The wife obviously loves it. Nice.

Wouldn't that make it a GA, not an OM. Taylor dosnt make an OM.

Hey, congratulations! Isn't it an amazing feeling? The guitar looks great as does the finish! 14 months is a long time to wait, you must be psyched!

Cheers,

Thanks everyone for the congratulation words.

We are heading to Langley, BC.

And you are right - it is a Grand Auditorium. But I thought that was basically an OM.... How are they different in size? I ordered the OM plans from LMI, but based it more on the 214 since the LMI plans were not quite to scale.

Very impressive for a first guitar especially the design details. Bet you can't build just one...! It's a sickness with no cure. Congrats.

Nice guitar, I hope you keep building in BC.

On my 1st I thought I had all the string balls pulled tight against the bridge plate, but the A string was not seated properly, as I tune up that string it snapped up into place and I almost browned my shorts. It is not a pleasure to hear funny sounds while tuning a new guitar more so ones first. After 5 complete I am still a little nervous when stringing up, but the first notes played are so cool.

Fred

That's a mighty fine looking #1. You are to be congratulated. Nothing better than finishing, except, maybe, starting another!
