I use a long-throw mid-range speaker, 4" or 5", and find the smaller the better. Just make sure it will handle the power. Sine waves have higher peak-to-peak voltage than the signals they use to rate speakers at a similar power level. Also, speakers are often rated at 'maximum' or 'transient' power: usually they only get the high power in bursts, while what we do is more or less continuous. The speakers I've been using are rated at 40W maximum, and 20W continuous, and they burn out after a few years of sine waves at 15W or so.

They have been shipped via Canada Post, but will be delivered by USPS if you live in the USA. I am kind of curious as to how long it will take to reach the coasts and such, but the USPS generally does a pretty good job of getting things delivered quickly. I hope that will be the case here.

Cheers,

If it is any help, anything small I have sent from Canada to the USA seems to take about 1 to 2 weeks. I think the border gestapo checks for terrorists before it is allowed to pass. That seems to be the normal time frame for articles coming into Canada from the USA so I guess it is only the normal border crossing holdups. I sent a CD to a friend in Detroit and it took 10 days, I could have walked to his place faster.

Hi Mike

I got the video in my mail today, I have not yet watched it. I know what I will be doing later today.

Speaking of this, I haven't been able to find aluminum glitter. My local Hobby Lobby doesn't have it and I'm not sure where else to look. Any suggestions? On the pics posted earlier I used saw dust from my table saw.

Mark Blanchard feels that table saw dust is about ideal. It's certainly cheap and available enough if you've got a table saw. Band saw dust isn't as good.

Chris, there are probably several that will work. I used PAS - Products Frequency Generator 2007. Use the sine wave form.

I recieved my plate tuning DVD in the mail today, and watched it through ,lots of interesting information shared by Alan,I especialy liked his explainations of what the node lines mean in relation ,to the workings of the plate. I do have a few questions, that can probably be answered with some experimentation. Jody

Mine came in the mail today in NW Ark.!

Just finished watching it and learned quite a bit. Especially was nice to see Al deciding which braces to alter trying to change the mode line shapes.

I've got to watch the section again where Al works on the traditional X braced guitar. My kids came in while I was viewing that section and next thing I know....the circle is closed.

I need to watch the section again where Al relates a ring pattern with a cross pattern (not sure I using the correct terms here). I didn't completely understand that part but wanted to see the entire video before re-watching sections.

To anybody still waiting on their disc:

If you could just post here when you receive the disc, so I can get an idea of how long it takes for USPS/Canada post to get these things shipped to various places.

Thanks!

Also,
Anyone that was in the first group that ordered should have their discs by the end of next week (approximately the 7th of August). If not I may have to invoke the insurance on anything feared lost and mail another one. Hopefully they are just slow.
