Another very busy convention at the GFA (Guitar Foundation of America) in Ithaca NY this past week.
The convention was packed with lectures, concerts and competitions as well as the vendor fair where myself and several OLF members participated:

Mike Collins and wife Jennifer

Dave;
you beat me to it !!!

It sure was fun to hang out with other makers and hear all the different guitars.
Plus all the really talented players that strolled the grounds .

Meeting Todd,Jordan Gary & seeing you again was like seeing old family members.

Did it rain enough though ?

Mike

It was fun meeting you guys and thanks for showing me your absolutely beautiful guitars, i was most impressed by all the stuff there, David, i especially liked your guitar with the fancy mid-side purfling, so crisp and nice!

Did the promoter not warn you that the event would be in ithaca! :lol: here the only timer it isn't raining is when the weather is cold enough to turn it to snow. (disclaimer: actually most of the summer is fabulous here, you guys caught the rainy spring)

If I didn't know that it was a trick of the camera, I'd swear that those guitars were HUGE!

One of these days I'll get there.

It was great having you all in town. I wish I'd had the time to throw you all a party or something. We did manage to have Joshia de Jonge and Jeremy Clark over for dinner on Saturday between the show and the evening concert, which was great. Sorry we couldn't have done something like that for each of you.

I also wish I'd had more time at the show to check out your guitars and talk. The one afternoon I was able to get over there for a while, the time flew by and before I knew it, they were kicking us out. I never even made it to Gary Lee's table, and I really wish I had! I hope I get another chance to meet you and see your guitars in the not-too-distant future, Gary. There were others I also regrettably missed.

Anyway, I hope it was a good time and well worth while for you all, and I hope you enjoyed being in Ithaca, in spite of the rain. Come back again later in the summer and catch some sunshine and some good music!

Did you go to Just A Taste that night, Mike? BTW, my daughter's play went really well, she had a great time doing it, and we're very proud of her.

What a wonderful week in Ithaca! It was so terrific to spend time with David and Mike, two first-class, highly experienced and accomplished luthiers who did the OLF proud. Both build incredible guitars and are the kind of people you want to hang out with just for their warmth and welcoming nature. Sorry I missed Todd and Jordan, but kudos to your city for hosting such a great event. I never knew that a rain-soaked week could be so much fun!
