I saw about 60 sets of what a guy called silver spruce He was asking 60 bucks. I didn't spend a lot of time going through them but I am wondering if they are suitable for steel string guitars? And if I bought them all how much should I dicker with him for the lot?

If you know what spruce looks and feels like, and you see at least 2 sets that would book match well and have the proper grain and no knots etc., you've made your money back, then you've got a supply for life for you and your friends! [:Y:] If this is spruce, can't go wrong.

I think silver spruce is also called Colorado or blue spruce - Picea pungens. I have heard of one archtop builder who uses this but don't remember who it was. Is this $60.00 for the lot or per top? If it's the whole lot - buy it before someone else does. If by the top, then that is about normal $$ for a AAA or master grade sitka or engelmann top. For that price make sure the quarter, runout and aesthetics are good.

That CAN'T be $60 for the whole lot. But if so... wow.
