Some 12 years ago before finding the OLF I built a large and deep bodied cutaway guitar based on a George Lowden that I lusted after but couldnt afford!! My first one. EIR and Englemann . I have just got my hands back on it after many years and it is holding up pretty well, sounds great but has very strident top B and E that slightly over power the rest of the strings. It is overall pretty loud. There is almost a Sitar like sybilance. I have pretty much ruled out the usual suspects (I think) nut, bridge, saddle + break angle ,frets, loose braces etc. I think it was always like that.
My neck geometry was slightly strange in that the strings are fairly close to the top (+-9mm)over a pretty thin bridge (+-7mm) so the top is definitely getting driven.
I took a look inside and the bracing is pretty agricultural....especially as I didnt even shape any of the brace tops at all !! They are tapered nicely no scallops and dimensionally reasonable but all rectangular in X section. Why do we all shape/round/para???? braces?
Could all those sharp corners be causing some Hi Freq weirdness?
Any other ideas for a fix ? Might a soundport help?

Steve, I think you have to go back and re-check the usual suspects. I searched in vain recently for such a thing and it ended up being a loose bridge. The sound was so high pitched I never would have thought that. It could be all sorts of things.
