I am hoping for some opinions on whether this one can still be used. It lost a battle with a jointer a while back. It seemed like a good idea at the time to thin a slotted and radiused board. duh

Most of the damage is outside the fretboard width, but would need to be built up to be used. I can cut it on an angle and glue a piece on the back or try to build it up with glue/sawdust perhaps?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Laurie

It does look like it could be built up and used. You would only see the repair at the two sides, the end would be covered by the nut.
I would try to use the cut-off of the other end of the board, or do you not have it, maybe a close match of other ebony.
I would not, however, use it on a guitar that I was going to sell. That's just me, my saying what I would not do. Every guitar has mistakes that you fix along the way. That one would be just a little too much for me. And on a good day I maybe could be talked out of my highly ethical stand. idunno

That's what I was thinking. If you weren't going to bind it, bind it with ebony.

Thanks everyone - this one didn't have any cutoffs, but I'll find something. I never even thought about binding the fretboard duh - maybe because I haven't done one yet!

Thanks - I'll give it a try...

Laurie
