I took some photos tonight of a "Single O" guitar I just finished... I used Todd Stock's idea for radial purfling on this guitar, and so I thought I'd share them.

Cedar top with Zebrawood purf... I love the look! Thanks to Todd for the idea!

I love this guitar! I hope it sounds as good as it looks. I want to build an "O" now. Tony

Thanks guys... this guitar has a top that is a laminate of Cedar/Lutz. It's quite loud and a bit heavy on mids... but that has been changing over the last week or so... the lows are really starting to develop. Other guitars of this size that I've done went through the same change. One that I made 4 or 5 years ago is very balanced, and a bottom end that is really big for a guitar so small. I'm interested in seeing how the double-top will effect all this.

That's really outstanding. How long are the radial pieces?

Hey thanks, Waddy... the pieces are about 4 or 5 inches long. I install them the same way you do shell... with a teflon strip.

By that reasoning, no man ever steps in the same river once!

Nice git, BTW.

Mike... the pieces are sliced off the end of a quartered board. The show side of the pieces is the same as the show side of the board... it's not end grain. I hope that makes sense.

I think Todd did do a tutorial already about this, it should be in the archives.

It's really simple... I use a Teflon strip, and do it exactly the same as you do shell purfling. The little slices of wood break as you go around the tight curves, but the cracks are masked by the fact that the wood is so variegated.

Thanks again for all the nice comments!

Bob,
Very nice guitar!!!

Is that the natural color of the cedar or did you stain it? Either way I really like it.
