Which would be the most practical taper to get. I was leaning towards 3° but it seems that commercially available end pins tend to be 5° and I don't want to shell out for both.

thanks, Bob

(plus, it seems that Grizzly sells a 3° for significantly less pesos...)

Hi Bob. You're going to need whichever matches the taper of the pins you plan to use. If you see yourself using 5 degree pins, get the 5. I use 3 degree pins, so I have a 3 degree reamer.

Bob, save your money and forget the Grizzly reamer. Get a good one from LMI or SM. Also LMI sells all kinds of 3 degree pins.

Get your reamer from a machinist supply like ww grainger or MSC. The grizzly reamer isn't worth the shipping charges.

I third that the Grizzly reamers aren't very good. I bought their set and then bought one from LMI or Stew Mac (can't remember) and it's a day and night difference.

4th on the Grizzly.

5° can leave a small enough hole on the bridge plate side that some string ball ends don't go through readily. Not an issue with 3°.
