Thanks Ken for hosting . It was a good meeting. Glad to meet the new guys. Dave ,thanks for the epoxy demo. It really helped. Today I tried using less like you and it worked great. That's why I was having trouble with the little ridges. I was using way too much. A tiny bit really does go a long way.
Well the next one is at my place. As of now I'm planning a grouper fish fry or a big pot of grouper chowder. I have my vacuum station I can demo and hopefully you guys will have some good ideas on other topics. I'm in Redington Shores which is between Clearwater Bch. and St. Pete, Bch. I'll send out more information as April 11th gets closer.

Grouper Sounds Great Jim. I cant wait for that! I'm glad that demo helped and thank you for bringing your buffing set-up.

I'm trying to get an idea of how many people to expect at the next meeting. Please let me know if you plan to attend or not. Also, I'm looking for people willing to do demos or any other type of presentation. I hope we have a good turn out. Thanks for your help.

Jim,

I don't think I'm going to be able to make this one. But don't think I don't want to be there or appreciate you hosting.

Jesus...guys I am not going to be able to make this trip. I just finished #2 and would really like to get some criticism on it. I've got too much on my plate and the distance is too far.

:(

I hope to be there, I never pass up a grouper dinner. I enjoyed seeing everyone and I will gladly host again in the future. For those of you working on the group project, keep in touch and lets get this done by november 1st, so I can raffle it at Riverhawk Festival. I will be building the back and sides. If someone wants to design and make an inlay for the peghead that would be super.

Well, my schedule feels a bit too hectic over the next few months to make it over to one of the meetings -- but I do hope to make it sometime this year. Looks like a fun time was had by all.

Thanks to all of you that made it here today. I really had a great time and enjoyed meeting the new guys. I hope the rest of you can make the next meeting which we scheduled for Saturday June 19th. If anyone is willing to host please speak up.
I'll try and post some pictures from this meeting when I get a chance. Hopefully some of you other guys that took pictures will also. Thanks again for your participation.
Jim B.
P.S. Keith, that was one really cool kerfing sled. You have my vote as the new Jigmiester.

Thank you for hosting Jim! I had a great time too and your grouper was absolutely
the best! Good to meet some more new members, all great players as well as builders.
Yep, Keiths kerf machine was very cool as was your vacumn set up. Dang, I
wish I would have recorded a short video on my camera of it in action!

It sounds like it was a good time. I wish I could have made it. The egg hunt we had was a good time though.

Post some pics of the highlights.

Here are a few pics from our meeting at Jims Bonnells' home and shop.
This is Keith MacKensie with his kerfed lining cutter invention. It's hard to see here but
it is a really cool machine that cuts your kerf and moves the strip over for the next cut.
You just stand back and let it work! It has a small electric motor that moves the wood
strip in and out to the band saw blade on drawer sliders.Perdy neat!

Sorry Chris for casting my vote for "The Jig Miester" title to Keith but till you stick a motor on something I'm going to have to stick with him. I have been giving some thought to the title myself. I'm preparing to repower my boat and will have a spare Detroit Diesel sitting around after wards. Perhaps a tuner twister. I'm open to suggestions.
In a couple days I'll send out an updated members list to everyone. Thanks again to you all that made it. I had a great time. Next time I'm serving Spam on a stick. That should get everyone to show up.

I'm working on attaching a dremel with a 1/4" round over bit to the kerf cutter to round the lining strip over as it passes along the fence. I'm going to have a moveable section of the fence that will have a vacuum clamp in it to secure the lining to the fence while passing under the dremel pfft  :D
That is the coolest jig ain't it? I thought it was cool before the motor was added. There was someone in the other discussion who said they could cut it just as fast by hand. My money is on the jig. That thing was pretty fast too.

OK Chris, when you have that done you'll be back in the running. Any way to add on a diesel? It would really give that round over bit some power.
I just sent out an updated contact list. Anyone that didn't get it let me know. I deleted Ken Hodges because he has moved to Nashville. Does anyone know about the forum website he set up for us? I keep checking it,but it doesn't seem to get used anymore.

I got the emails Jim. I haven't read them yet but I got them.

I didn't know Ken moved. I keep an eye on the forum, but not much action over there. Of course I haven't been doing much so I don't have much to add to it.

Hey Jim, Thanks for hosting and the grouper OMG that was good.
It was great meeting the group and seeing what others are doing.
You have me thinking about making that vacuum setup you showed us, maybe that's the new home for your Detroit .
Chris has me thinking about armrests. Billy has me thinking about taking up the Autoharp and
guitar lessons, man that guy can make sweet music.
Daves L-00 has me wanting to dust off my mold and make one, what a beautiful guitar.
Terry ,Bud, and me where busy during the trip home coming up with our new to do list.
Great meeting,
Thanks again.

Keith and his motorized kerfing sled. And pictures of other members doing member like stuff. Sorry guys. I don't know what happened to the pictures. I'll have to work on it some more, but trust me the pictures were great ! I really liked the one where Elvin was dancing with that naked girl. We'll have to do that again sometime. Oh well.
