Im wondering if anyone knows where to get the electrical BBQ starters, that many people seem to adapt for side bending, in the UK? i cant seem to find them anywhere. Does anyone in the UK use this method? if not what do you use? (id rather not splash out on a fox style bender, or an ibex bending iron, they seem to be more than my buget can stretch to)

Just put 'electric BBQ starters' into Google check 'UK', and you'll find loads, even Amazon carries one, which is probably the best.

i did try google (uk only pages and putting uk into the search bar), but everything was still american, being priced in dollars, which was quite annoying, and that one you picked out was quite a bit more expensive than the other ones, and im a bit of a cheap skate

so is that one worth it? its design is different to the any of the other ones i have seen people, should it just be used in the same way though?

Strange looking contraption. must have a fan inside the handle that blows across the heating coils.

That one looks like a heat gun. You could, almost, use it as a bending iron without any other parts.

Another option that you might consider is to use the heating element of an electric water heater. That may only be a few pounds at the local dump. The ones we have in the US are just about the right shape. I don't know how UK water heaters are made so they might not work at all.

I believe there is such an item as a "Dry Well Water Heater Element" which does not have to have water around it to keep it from burning up. You might see if something like that is available.

Yes a regular water heating element will burn up if no water is around it and there is a dry type that won't and are used in moble homes. You could also get cartridge heaters from McMasters Carr. Anyone ever tried to unwind an electric range element?

Here's a dry type but it's 120V but you could check it out over there for a 220V.
