About a week ago I posted a drawing of a jig I intended to build and here it is.
It seems to work as planned and I believe has given me a good foundation to build on. I'll post more pics after the guitar is completed showing the neck attachment and we'll see if I get a hump or if the neck angle works out. I decided to switch as well to a 30' radius after using a 25' for years. Of course this operation can be done in a number of ways and there is no wrong way unless it results in a lousy neck joint but I think it will make for a quite repeatable good neck angle/joint.
The side rails are a 30' radius except for the portion paralleling the upper bout and it is flat and corresponds to the neck angle I am looking for.
The first pic just shows the guitar in the jig.
The other two show the upper bout being flattened with the flat router bed. There are two other router beds that cut the 30' top radius on the lower bout and the 15' radius of the back.
The side rails also 15' and 30 ' radius are interchangeable and slide into slots in the base.
Hey I really like this new spell checking or is that my new mac doing that.
