I am looking for a good Pneumatic Random orbital sander to use as a finish sanding tool. Any recommendations?

Chicago Pneumatic - 2.5mm Random Orbital Sander with Self Vacuum, 6" (CP7220-SV)
2.5mm orbit for high quality finishing
0.3 hp oil free motor
Triple balance design
Adjustable speed regulator with safety shut off
Self-vacuum
Max rpm: 12,000

I also have one of these. I like because I have a hook and loop adaper attaced and can use 5" discs Eagle Industries 6905EC 5" Pneumatic Random Orbital Sander (12,000 RPM)
Air Inlet: 1/4 Inch
Air Usage: 15 CFM
Length: 6.9 Inches
Orbit Pattern: 3/16 Inches
Pad Size: 5 Inches
RPM: 12,000 RPM

Neither are cheap and and of course they eat air so you need a good compressor

Dynabrade makes the best pneumatic sanders. They're expensive but very well made.

Another Dynabrade user too. Great tools but they eat some serious air. Better have a good compressor.

Dynabrade Spirit. Light and powerful. I have 3.5, 5 and 6 inch versions in various orbit patterns but have found the 3/16 to be the most versatile. I run mine at about 35 lbs at the regulator and never more than 45.

Yeah, if you don't have a large CFM output compressor then forget it and go with a electric RO.

Can you rig 'at the source' dust collection with a pneumatic?

well.....that never crossed my mind. Mostly because I have space constraint issues.

So...Joe....you use pneumatic random orbits for finish sanding? What size do you use mostly? I know someone that makes the giant characters you see at Disney World. He suggested, and I wasn't listening very well, a pneumatic RO and I don't remember what it was.

Tell us your secrets Joe....or we'll use the force to bend your driver's license! laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe

I'm a Dynabrade user also. They are awesome. I hope I don't take this too far in another direction but I have always been curious about these sanding tables. Joe, do they work well? What's the cfm on yours?

John...
Dynabrade, hands down.
If you want to try one out first, you can borrow mine if you wish. It's only "across the canyon"! laughing6-hehe
