I'm wondering.....(and can't seem to find an answer anywhere) I'm thinking of making my next guitar a bit larger at the lower bout . .... well I have all this cedar that would work fine for the Martin Parlor, but I want to try the Larivee dimensions next time.

Is it OK to have three board glue up for a cedar top? Will it have any affect on the end product? . . . . thanks

Instead of 3 boards I'd recommend adding 2 small wings to the lower bout. You can use pieces from the waist cutout so it will match. I've done a couple adi tops this way...with full disclosure to my customers. You can't see it when they're done. I'm talking about an inch or less on each side. I guess you could use a bigger piece if necessary.

I like to slip the piece down from the upper bout to the lower to widen the lower as required - that way if there is some runout, it will be the same, and there shouldnbt be a light/dark line running where you added on. Mark them a and b before you cut them .. then you cant go wrong.

...or, if you need more width that that will produce, you can use the off-cut from the waist area from the opposite side, flip it over before you glue it on the lower bout area. However you do it, mark the pieces so you know which way the runout goes, as Tony suggests. A "runout angle mismatch" can be really noticeable under a finish.
