what is the closest distance you would want the strings from the edge of the finger board at the nut ?I tried to widen the spacing of my current build and am wondering if I went a tad to close to the edge . at first I slipped off the edge of the fingerboard a few times while playing but now that I am getting used to it it seems o.k. I am about 1/16 from the top beveled edge of the fret wire. Thanks Jody

Mostly 1/8 inch, minimum for me would be 3/32.

Mine are at or just over 2/32 from the bevel of the first fret. Probably about 1/8 from the edge of the fingerboard at the first fret.

If it's for you you'll learn to play it with out falling of the edge and I guess you wanted more space as your a finger stylist so whats the deal? I play finger style and personally wouldn't go much under 1/8" but it's all personal preferance I don't like necks that are too wide or deep as it causes my hand to cramp up, horses for courses
