Hi.
I'm trying to find a clear cellulose lacquer that will crack quickly ..to create a vintage look. Can anyone help?

<LOL> I understand the consept but seem a bit silly. if your cracks look vintage now just imagine how they will look in 10, 20, or50 years you will be pulling flake off every where.

Apply one type of lacquer thick!
Let dry!
Then spray another type over it !
Nitro\Aqrillac(sp)
wait for the cracks !!

You can take the canned air duster, turn it upside down and spray it on the nitro. It will crack.

I think the best way to check nitro is to put the body somewhere cold like inside a chest freezer, then bring it out in warm air. Compressed air just causes unnatural checking which looks fake. Not all nitro will check since many commercial nitro lacquer contains plasticizer they may never check. McFaddens will check.

Also make sure the finish has cured for at least 6 months before attempting to check, the lacquer needs to get nice and hard before it will check.
