hi guys,

sorry i have not put an input into this yet as i have been off sick for this week again [xx(]
and away from a computer.

anyway this wood is much nicer in the flesh than it is in the pic and has awsome deep rope like ribbon figure with some very light curl also.

this wood looks awsome under a finish and i can post a picture of that if people are interested.
this wood is perfectly quarter sawn but there is one pin knot outside the template area.
the back set 10" at the bottom tapering to 8" and as you can see will fit dread template easily.
the sides are 33" x 5" x 3mm

this wood is genuine small leaf mahogany (sweitinia mahogani) from cuba and not plantation wood.
this wood was imported into the uk in 1890 where it was bought by a cabinet maker for a special job (fitting out a solicitors office i belive) where cuban mahogany was specified by the client.
the rest of the stock left from the job was put into storage for a special job that never came along.
anyway long story short the wood fell into the hands of a family member who stored the wood for a further 30 years before selling it on to my supplier.
most of the wood went to antique restorers but i managed to secure some fine quarter sawn boards for guitar sets.

this wood has been popular with a couple of very well known british makers who have bought most of my stock for special one off runs.

i have a about 15 sets left and once its gone its gone no more will ever come up.

in a way this wood is rareer than rio as it has been comercialy extinct since 1940 (when cuba banned export of the wood) so take this opertunity to snap up this item as its not likely to come up again.

i would also like that shipping is included in the auction and i will to usa, europe and the uk for free included in the price.

list price for this £160.

all proceeds go to the OLF so dont be shy.

Thanks ,
Joel.

Now guys, if your gonna bid, and it IS for a good cause, then there should be a min bid increment... or this could get real silly towards the end. Maybe a $10 bid increment? OK, not trying to cause trouble here... beehive

Peace,

Mike
