Well Spring is in the air. May will be here in no time! Speaking of May, Saturday May 23, and Sunday May 24 I will be at Red Rock Community College in Lakewood Co. at the invitation of our own finish and construction guru Robbie O’Brien to give a 2 day seminar on French polishing. to be more specific we will be covering "The Magic of Spiriting-off-building a self leveling French polish finish". While basic boding will be covered the main topic will be building a film that you never have to touch with an abrasive.

Tuition for the seminar will be $30 per attendee and you will need to bring your supplies with you. 1lbs cut of shellac, 2lbs cut of shellac, lube oil (extra Virgin olive oil of walnut oil), DA or puregrain alcohol, muneca materials, 2 eye droppers and a piece of wood you wish to finish the surface of. Due to the limited time frame I ask tht you pore fill in advance so that we can spend the time building a traditional film that is level with no need sand to level.

I hope to see at least several OLF’s there

Hi, New Guy
I am restoring a Brazilian Parlor Guitar. I have my French Polish DVD, Shellac stuff, Material and fill…. Can I use plastic jars and plastic Eye Droppers? Or do I have to go glass?
I wish your class was closer. I would be all over it.

Have you settled on dates for the West Coast leg of your tour?

If I could get a quick building, self leveling FP I would be thrilled. The DVD I have promises ~40 hours on a guitar. I've spent it and still not gotten good results. I'll be searching your posts and reading before I set out again...

You heard that right folks, 30 bucks!!!! Michael has very generously offered to do this FP seminar at Red Rocks Community College in May on a non profit basis. He will be offering 8 hours of instruction over two days and we all know that he really knows his stuff when it comes to French polish. I hope to see some OLF'ers there. Contact either me or Michael to get on the list.

Anyone within reach of this course and that doesn't go is missing the chance to really learn something. Finishing French polish to a fine glazed surface without having to rub back is a skill which you really should learn. If someone sends me the first class air fare and books me into a five star hotel, I'd be on my way.

Good luck with the course Michael.

Frei thanks. The Parlor is beating alot of stupid out of me. Killer effect on my wallet also lol. I put together a slide show I will post. When I did the slide show I crashed the images on the updates I posted. I was crushed. I am bribing smart teenagers. They get an afternoon of Laser Storm and I get a website with my story restored. I'll post her then. Mean while I will find my way around this place. I think I found a very dangerous place :)

Micheal, thanks. I have an endless supply of Peanut Butter Jars (I'll clean them good) Although, Crunchy might be the the unfound secret to pore filling.
I have the space if you ever want to do a SWPA class :)

Yammi, your pictures tend to be really big. If you could shrink then in size, and in pixels (loike to 7X9) that would cut down on server space. There are free programs out there to do it with. If you are posting off the camera, then your looking at 2 mb's which is way-huge. Should be under 200k if possible. :)

Yes, lutheri (*in your case, geetar building in mine) is like haveing another kid. Then when you get all the tools, you start looking at the good wood. ($500+ for really nice looking geetar woods)

It will never end, I assure you.

like fly in de flypaper....
