Hey you guys - this is one of the only places where I thought I "might" be able to find this info...
The Yuriy Angel!
I bought a copy of the Guitar Player Guitar and Bass buyer guide one year, mid 90's .... back when I was only dreaming of building guitars - flipping through this issue I saw in the electric section the
Yuriy Angel...

Now to me>>> Its a fantastic body style!!
and combines the cool factors of the Strat and LP in a really cool way - in my opinion even better than a PRS!!! IMO
There were always factors which I found unsatisfying in the PRS guitars Ive owned over the years,,,
I think this guitar solves them - for me at least - as I realize that there are people who feel the PRS body style is the perfect combo of Strat and LP...
Anyhow
This little photo of this cool guitar left me with many questions
Who is this maker Yuriy? And what happened to the Angel?
It seemed the model disappeared after this listing..I can find no info about it on the net or in any of my hundreds and hundreds of Guitar mags!
Anyhow this guitar has a LP lower bout and stylized Strat horns - violin cutaway sections on ea of the sides,,, its a carved maple top on a mahog body obviously - now the fretboard on the model I saw was Over The TOP!!! with a gaudy amount of pearl IMO and I wouldnt be replicating that - there was a cool design headstock too IMO but Ill be using my own design
Yes, thats right
I am planning on replicating the guitar..... for a personal axe
Ive extrapolated plans from this itty bitty picture, and Im satisfied Im as close as I can come to this design, and its time to finally build one...
There was a directory in the back of this builders guide with the makers
personal info incl phone#'s - I have long since lost this part of the mag but have been hauling around this little picture of this ultra cool guitar well over a decade now....
ANyone have any info for me - photos?>anything that could help me out here?
This is truly one of the coolest guitars Ive ever seen, and believe me Ive seen alot!
I can believe it didnt take off as a model - but I suspect it might have been the era - grunge gaah - and mabye the overkill pearl used on it if anything - it was also very expensive $3200 in the mid90's was pricy - but well worth it as its along the lines of a custom shop LP in quality by the looks of it...
Anyhow - if you dont know anything about it, or havent seen one - you will when Im done Ill post some photos - Id love to get other luthiers opinions on it..
Cheers
Charlie

Wow! Now that is ...different. Thats more than a cross between a strat and a LP.. add in some Stradovarias too!

I think I like it!

thanks for the info
` I did end up finding that site yesterday after browsing and searching a bit more - its an unusual instrument, but like I said Im interested in fooling with the whole Strat/LP hybrid arena.....
I think that in reality the best thing is to have one of each and let the whole issue die,
but Im thinking I want to see where one of my builds falls along the line - I suspect it will end up more LP in the end anyhow....
The horns on the electric Angel are a little insectoid for my taste in a way and Im thinking of using this model as inspiration and making more of a Strat horn arrangement... at least not having them splay so widely....
Anyway,,,, this Yuriy has certainly done very well as a luthier and worked with some really top flight people - I say good on him... There are definitely elements of this guitar that stay with me!
Cheers

I too have thought of building a guitar like that , except with rounded shoulders. I like the violin look the most.
