I was wondering after seeing all the posts about OLF get togethers.... Is anyone going to the ASIA Symposium?

Alas, it is right in the middle of my son's high school graduation. For some reason, by family thinks that that is a higher priority. This will be the first ASIA symposium that I've missed in 8 years :(

I wish, but I'll be in Istanbul instead, so I can hardly complain.

Maybe I can find a good deal on an oud or saz!

I will be there. First time for me and I am looking forward to going to Martin as well. I was taking an inlay course with Dave Nichols when he was pulling out wood to make a guitar to bring to the show. Wood was beautiful can't wait to see it. I am new to this so I hope to learn as much as possible. bliss bliss bliss bliss

I'll be there,
Visiting Martin sounds great. I grew up in PA, but never went to Martin Co. while I was younger.

It's a lot of fun.

I'll be there. I'll be exhibiting at least one instrument, possibly two or three. I'll also have some wood and tools and stuff for sale. I will probably have a Jet/Performax 10-20 drum sander for sale there, as a matter of fact. My table will be full! And, more importantly, I'm sure my time will be full hanging out with you all and soaking up all I can get out of the symposium. Looking forward to it!

I sure would like to go but my wife is having a knee replaced on the 4th of June and there is no way I could do it that close to the surgery. It would be my 1st and was looking forward to it.

I'm interested in going, and have been planning to, but wish I knew more about what happens at these events, since I have never been to one.

In the past, no. It has moved around.

I'm thinkin' about going, but not sure. I dropped my membership back around 97 or 98, and haven't been to a meeting since Burlington. It would be nice, but between transport, hotel, beer, and having to close the shop for a few days, it adds up pretty quickly. I'm not sure if likely to make it or not as of yet.

David, I think it would be great if you go as a presenter. I get the impression they don't have the whole line-up of presenters worked out yet, so I bet they'd still be happy to have you in that role if you were to offer. I don't know exactly what they offer the presenters, but surely they must give you at least free admission, room, and food - ? You have so much to offer. I hope you'll consider it. If you do it, I'll buy your beer.

I'll be there with my wife Emily. Looking forward to catching up and meeting new folks.
I've been MIA for awhile; I had wrist surgery back in September but finally back in full swing.

Todd,
I am going as a presenter and my understanding, and it would be kind of nice to know if this is wrong, is that presenting is completely voluntary and all expenses are paid by the presenter.

I'll ask again, as typically you would thing something is covered as a perk, but I am not so sure, especially in this economic climate.

You can find out more information at guitarmaker.org.

When: June 10-14, 2009

Where: East Stroudsburg University,

I started going to these back in 1987 and they are a great time. Hopefully I can make it to this years too.
