Well, I was VERY pleasantly surprised at lunch today when a package arrived. My ridiculously generous uncle knew that I have been curious about old Stanley 113 compass planes lately and went and bought me one off ebay and had it shipped to my door!!! It is in great shape, probably about 100 year old and I can't wait to clean it up and use it.

BUT, now I am wondering two things:

Does anyone have any idea if there is a use for this thing in Luthiery?

And, does anyone know where I can get a rear handle for this beautiful 113? (it was missing the original handle when I got it - ebay doesn't have any listed right now, but I'm watching.)

Thanks all, and let's here a round of applause for encouraging uncles/family/friends!!!! [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]

Justin

Thanks Geordie!

I will have to email those antique guys about that.

I was thinking about using my 113 for future radius dishes - to either carve them out, or to smooth out router jig rails for making the dishes. .

Thanks again!
