Hi Folks,

I don't consider myself a guitar builder with only one under my belt but I thought I would share the experience.
Recently I had the pleasure of meeting Sylvan Wells (http://www.wellsguitars.com) and he invited me to check out his shop and some of his wonderful guitars. Well one thing led to another and I ended up building one for myself at his workshop. Along with being a kind generous person Sylvan is also a master guitar builder and has some really innovative processes in his guitar building such as his "semi-hemispherical fretting system". I've never played a guitar with such a comfortable neck. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pic and thanks for letting me share an incredible experience.

Hi RC. That's one heck of a guitar you got there. People's first guitars never cease to amaze me. Yours is exquisite!! Are those Indian sides and back? Are you happy with the sound? You were incredibly brave to tackle a cutaway on your first go. It looks perfect!! Congratulations! [clap] [clap] [clap]

Yes, EI rosewood back and sides and a nice bear claw sitka top. I am extemely happy with the sound as well as the playablility.

I wasn't brave, Sylvan was there every step of the way [:Y:]

Thanks for the kind words, it's not perfect but any flaws were completely my fault.

Looks fantastic.
you were very fortunate to meet Sylvan. Most of us wish we had a mentor like that for our 1st guitar.
Suck up as much of his knowledge as you can!!!!

Hey RC welcome to the OLF [:Y:] [clap] [clap] [clap]

Your guitar looks absolutely fantastic and you should be very, very proud! [:Y:] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]

Sylvan is a fantastic builder and teacher as well and someone that I wish that I had known when I started building.

Welcome aboard!

Thanks for all of the kind words!

It's been a dream of mine for a long time to build an acoustic and meeting Sylvan was a God send.

He's been incredibly generous with his knowledge as well as his tools & jigs :)
