Where is a good place to buy some orphaned sides? I cleaned out Shanes EIR and made some multi piece necks so far,,,
turned out pretty good!
so Im thinking of stocking up on some more orphaned sides (or backs even for back strips) to facilitate more multi piece necks, etc, in the future...
Cheers
Charlie

When most set vendors resaw set they will have one or two orphens per billet if they resaw the whole billet, so check with any and all tonewood vendores. but the real question is why orphened sides. Why not buy some boards and resaw as needed. If you have a band saw and a thickness sander that is. It would be a lot cheaper than buying orphend sides.

Check out Allied Lutherie, their student grade EIR sides are $17 if I recall and most are good enough to make a guitar. They should be perfect for laminates, and maybe they have flat sawn or rift sawn stock if you ask.

let me know what species you want i have malaysian blackwood,Mad rose,Amazon rosewood,figured ovangkol,mahogany,cocobolo,honduras rosewood,english sycamore(euro maple),london plane,wenge,and probaly others.
the last cut can sometime be thin on one side and is usualy planed one face.
These get into head stock veneers or sold as laminate strips so the price varies depending on the wood.

the only problem is shipping it would be about £30 for 1kg up[ to 3 kg and about £40 for up to 6 kg.
it goes up about £5 every 1.5 kg,s

If that fails resawing may well be an option for you as you dont need quarter sawn stock neck slices in fact flat sawn wood is sometime preferd for this job (bearing the radial face will then be on the face at the back of the neck).
