Wes,
Can I get the specs on #1's bindings and purflings? What are the back and sides?
Great job!

René

Wow, surprised to see this old thing pop up! But, to answer your question, the B/S was Honduran mahogany and the bindings were white oak. Purfling, I imagine, was standard issue StewMac B/W/B. This'n is still a regular picker and my old workhorse/test mule. She has a lot of battle scars now, has played a lot of gigs, and doesn't get babied much. Punched a soundport in the upper bout some time back. (Yes, on purpose...I hate those accidental kinds!). I liked the effect, motivated me to continue with soundports on my recent builds. My wife thought I'd lost my mind when I attacked it with a drill!

Thanks for asking!

Top this one! I snuck into my dads shop at night to build this when i was a young teenager. I am still not quite sure what kind of music i thought i would be playing on it.

Then a made a normalish guitar, during the daylight, with his help. All that i have left of it is this sexy shot.

Alright, finally got home to take pics of my first. It's a Parker Fly-ish thing, without all the cool things that would make it "fly". It actually plays pretty nicely, keeping in mind that I've never really played a really nice guitar.

I feel for you Hesh, I'm a Mariners fan. They just so happen to be the best Triple A team in major league baseball. :)

I have still got some finiting to do on the first so I have not got round to taking any pictures as yet. However I can say that everyone who has played it so far seems to really really like the sound and can't seem to shower me with enough compliments. It will be very interesting to hear what those sniveling suckers have to say for themselves once I finally put the gun down.

I must say that what I have seen displayed here today is really quite astonishing, especially those drum stick Lance has glued to his behind that he's trying to palm off as legs. laughing6-hehe

Cheers

Kim

I am going to try to post pictures here of my #1 (a "modified" martin kit). I spent 3 years building it - building fixtures, tools, aquiring tools (money...). Guitar number 2 was for my son - about 6 months to build. I am on #'s 3, 4, 5 now. I dont post much here but I read posts several times a week and support the sponsers (Steve at colonial tonewoods has supplied tops and binding for 3, 4 and 5). Learning as I go along...

Dont have any idea if the pictures will work - I linked it two ways.

My #1. Maple cap on chambered walnut. LR Baggs piezo TOM into homebuilt dual preamp with combined or stereo outputs. Too many controls, neck is a bit too flexible otherwise, not to bad. Tru Oil finish. Looks good hanging on the wall ;)
