Just a little sanding untill I am finished , taptone is great ! I tried to get back about the same taptone I had before bracing, and I feel I did that so I am pleased, was VERY nervous, was really afraid to carve away to much , since this is my first top, I cant really sau if i did or not, perhaps you guys can give me some hints and critique ! reading, reading readiing, before starting !! also watched John Mayes Exellent videos alot, so much of the bracing ideas are from him and ofcause from the really GREAT plan from Michael P.
the rosette got bound , I used mac both on the bound as on the wood for the rosette, I am thinking of using mac as freatboard aswell , any pro/cons on that ? and same might go for bridge, but then again I might use plain ebony for both, havent desided on that yet .
Please let me know what your thought are, good and bad.

I really like your soundhole and rosette, Lars. Fine job. The bracing look good to me, also, Very neat workmanship.

Lars, it looks good. I like the rosette with the bound soundhole - very nice. I am at about the same point on my first as well. Hopefully they will both come out sounding good!

Just a little note for further consideration, and I can't really complain since I did the exact same on no.1, but you might consider using a spruce splice to cap the X instead of another type of wood...

Why ? does it give a better tone ? I have no clue ! just thought it lookt good, but it is easy to take off and change if important for tone etc.

Lars - Great job on the rosette. I would probably have lined the rosette grain up 90 degrees to the top (or parallel), but that's just me. Overall, it looks really nice.

Jim, I agree, I would have done that to, but I guess I was to quick seeing if i would make it, so I forgott to look at what direction I put it. But I would have wanted it that way to .

SO !! No critique ????? Please let me know what your thought are, good and bad.
Right now I am fixing with the neck and tailblock, any advice ?

are there anything to advice me on, bracing etc etc.

Lars, it does look good! No critique other than I love the rosette! I guarantee that it will sound like a guitar. Good work.

Lars the only issue I see with it is that it isn't attached to the rest of the body. But I'm new at this.

Lars - Still looks great!

I am thinking to use the soundhole plate (?) on mine but i haven't seen anyone eliminate the soundhole bracing before. All the pictures i have seen using this plate still used the braces. Can anyone comment on whether or not it's a good idea to eliminate those braces?

Am a newbie, but on my first two (still on number two), I also reinforced the soundhole and eliminated the soundhole braces, however, I also used a 'slipper' neck block that provided additional support under the top under the fingerboard extension. The whole thing is solid and stable and sounds darn good... would welcome others thought on this

If you must have some critique, then I would say that some of the brace terminations look a tad abrupt. Think smoothly rising hills, not office blocks Don't shoot me now. Can't pick on the rosette.

If it were mine, I'd back the peaks up some more. (Carve more away).
I mean on the tone bars as well as the finger braces.
Move those peaks back away from the legs of the "X" and you'll open up the sound a bit more.
In other words, those peaks look abrupt, like they're rising too quickly from the X brace.
Think foothills, not Alps.

There's a thought for ya.

Oh, and I still love the rosette too.

Great info ! Thanks. I will look into it, my top is only .100 so therefor I am a bit nervous to carve away to much, but I will gently make it more a foothill or a rising hill then. Ill send a photo or later on.

First off, you made a great looking soundhole! Really neet looking!

Regarding your bracing, I would carve more as well. If it can reassure you, my tops are always .100" and my braces are way smaller than yours.

I modifed you bracing picture to give you an idea of what I would aim at if I were you.

Great Alain, I will fix that first thing tomorrow !! Ill post a photo and you can see if you think I am on the right track. Thanks alot ! . Also its been mentioned I dont have braced around the soundhole, I didnt think I needed that since of the reinforment I made around it, whats your take on this or anyone elses for that matter.
