Electric A 59 gold top LP custom to go with my 65 cherry burst standard and 74 black beauty deluxe. This is mainly a collection thing with me.

Accoustic would be a Kragenbrink E2 with LS Redwood top and Mal. Ebony back and sides bound in Curly koa.

My "Freestyle" in Cocobolo/Lutz. It'll do dang near anything.

I’ve got it.!.
A George Lowden L25 (became the “O” model) Cedar / EIRW Serial No. 717 made in the ‘80s, I’ve had it since new and it still sounds and play’s like a dream.
If anything happened to it I’d get Mr Lowden to build me another in Alpine spruce and African Blackwood.

A Walker OM, built to be warm with a good mix of fundamental and overtone for contemporary music. However he'd do it would be fine with me. I'd abalone rosette and purfling, and a brazilian fingerboard/overlay.

For the electric, a Gibson L5.

I'm not too picky A 59 lp standard or mabey a 55 gold top would be nice.

A 13-fret 000, 12 fret body, short scale in BRW/Lutz. 42 style abalone trim with short fern inlay at the twelth fret with a modest amount of engraving. Slot-head neck with engraved Waverlies to top it off. Obviously, I've had awhile to think about this.

A version of the Martin 000-18 Norman Blake.
000 14 fret body in Honduran Mahogany, 12 fret neck, 1.75" nut width, soundhole and bridge moved about an inch toward the tailblock,
Red Spruce top with scalloped traditional 000 X bracing, wood binding and fine herringbone rosette and top purfling.

BTW this is what I intend to be my first build so that makes it even more of MY DREAM GUITAR.

I'm with Todd, The one I'm dreaming of is always just a guitar or two away. Since I can't show you that one, here is the one I was dreaming of just a few weeks ago. Strung up yesterday and sounding just like it looks!!!

I thought I had my dream guitar until I saw some of these photos, man they are some nice guitars. Until you guys spoiled
my illusion of having my dream guitar, this was it. I've always loved the first D-45's, 12 fret, great shape and sound, I spent some time with the 2nd D-45 (the Jackie Kid Moore guitar) and built this one as close to those specs as I could. Old mahogany neck blank, very old Brazilian, T-bar neck reinforcement etc. It's been my player ever since. At least, until
I read this post.... Well, as Todd said, there is the next one. I do believe that as it seems to be part of the force that
keeps us going, trying something different and always the hope that it really is an improvement. Or that it's just a little more special than the last one we built.

I'm with Sam on this one I played a few of Dave Whites De Faoite guitars recently, and fell in love with two in order of priority they were

1. Cheltenham Samhain I think
2. Jack the lad

Though I lusted after my guitar for 4 years and love it now I've got it it's a Tuner Jumbo 85CE my first all solid woods what a difference

Wow, thats a tough one!

It would probably be an OM/Grand Auditorium style shape, with a venitian cutaway (I think thats the smooth, round one.) I would probably go for some old rosewood of some kind, unless there was some very, VERY convincing walnut available (of course, I would pick out the specific sets of wood.) And probably a tighter-grained Engelmann top. The pinless bridge, headplate and fretboard would all be made from high-grade ebony, with Les Paul-style fretboard inlays. High-flame maple bindings on the body, fretboard and headstock would be a must, along with BWB Top and back purflings, maybe even some on the sides. A mahogany neck with walnut pen-striped laminates would be preferable. Of course it would need a single-ring BWB/Abalone/BWB rosette. A fishman aurora system (the one with the soundhole controls), unless I could somehow get a Taylor Expression system (it's a long shot - I know lol), would be the pickup of choice. When all was said and done, it would need a glossy finish on the body, and an oil finish on the neck.

That's the dream guitar of this 17 year old Luthier!

Since this a dream, I'll go for one of the classic vintage archtops--a D'Aquisto or D'Angelico, or a vintage L-5. But that'll always be a fantasy, so I guess I'll just keep trying to build my next one (and the ones after that) each better than the last. Note of interest: In the 70's I had an opportunity to buy a D'Angelico for $800, and a Johnny Smith for $700. I was so broke I didn't even go look at either one. It would have been torture. And believe me, in those days $800 might as well have been $8 million in terms of my ability to come up with the money. Oh well...

Hey, Howard, I saw your cool guitar posted the first time around, but had forgotten about it. That is a SWEET instrument!

interesting diversity going on here, all classic choices one way or another, great taste!.
I’ve asked Sam P. for some music already, how about the others. Any chance of letting us hear what “the dreams” sound like, John H. Howard K. and all ?. can you point us to sound clips of these great instruments you suggest. After all seeing pictures of them is a small part of what the guitar is all about.

Preferably an Interdonati like the Marc Silber owned jewel that was profiled in GuitarWorld long ago in the 90's. Georgous inlays and beautiful recurved shoulders!
There a dark history and mystery that goes along with those instruments on account of thier black sheep maker that adds a cool vibe to the package!

Other than that Id like a Howard Klepper model.... because you make good cookies Howard!!!!
