I got a Royal Flush of Spades for the first time ever! On Christmas Day!

I have been complaining for months about how I have had every Royal except of spades... what a gift!

my birthday was the 12th, so im going to include that as well. a good buddy of mine bought the domain name blairguitars.com for me. nothing on it as of yet, but an amazing gesture none the less. i got some money from my family, with which i bought the LMI fret slotting blade and template, a radius sanding block, fret rounding file, fret cutters, fret press caul, and some nut files. can you tell im getting ready to fret? my family and friends have been a huge support morally and financially to me in my guitar building endeavors, so a BIG thank you to them.

non guitar related i got to spend time with my wifes family which means homemade tamales. awesome. also the first season of "chuck" on DVD.

Besides great times with the kids and family (which is most important anyway) I got some tools (I only ever ask for tools).

2 Bosh Colt single speed laminate trimmers

Well a couple days late and many dollars shorter I bought myself a few things today from Woodcraft. The drill laser locater and here's one Hesh might like to have:
http://www.woodcraft.com/product.aspx?P ... ilyID=4385
This should work good for adapting jigs too and to be able to do quick changes for jigs like fret slot cutting and cutting X brace center joint for a couple.

Two items of note. One for intellectual stimulation (I need a lot of help on this front!) and one for inspiration.

I received a copy of David Hurd's Left Brain Lutherie - Using Physics and Engineering Concepts for Building Guitar Family Instruments: An Introductory Guide to Their Practical Application. :P
The other item was Grit Laskin's book A Guitarmaker's Canvas - The Inlay Art of Grit Laskin. [:Y:] My oldest son picked up Grit's book for me and went to the trouble of making an appointment to meet Grit at one of his offices and having it signed. [:Y:] [:Y:] [:Y:] I was blown away!

Don't deserve either but I'm thrilled to have them.

James - you should enjoy Clapton's Guitar. A great read for anyone interested in building.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Under the tree for me
A Lie-Nielsen #4 Smoother, in Bronze no less
One of their chisels 5/8"
A set of Shapton stones
2 scrapers

and from my daughter who is home for the holidays
from Inuvik, a traditional hand tool called an ulu, which
was/is used by the Innuit mostly for skinning animals, but
apparently has copious other uses. Very cool.
