Ken, she's a true beauty. I'm curious whether you bound your fingerboard with very thin strips of ebony, or whether you filled the ends of the fret slots. I agree with everyone and all comments about the guitar. Your rosette has a very cool vibe. Nice figure in the top wood, too. You pulled all the elements of the instrument together just beautifully. I hope I can work to this degree of perfection some day!

Ken,

She's a stunner from every aspect! Love the rosette and Mad Rose.

Stunning Ken. Very refined look. I love Madagascar rosewood. Someday I'll hopefully stumble across a decent set.

Ken

Yes, Patrick, I bind the fingerboard with ebony. It's a little more time consuming but I just don't like the fret ends having a chance to poke out.

Thanks Ken, for the welcome ...

I checked out the other rosettes on your site and have tried to picture your technique. I guess they are constructed in strips and rearranged as are many rosettes, yours just have some very unique compositions within, not to mention fine execution.

I don't know if this has been covered, but would you show some of the process ?

Cheers, Anthony

First post here guys.

Hi all,

It's the close up shot of that rosette that has ended my lurking days. It's got a jazz-age/deco kind of rhythm to it that'll do for today's dose of guitar making inspiration.

Cheers, AP

Welcome to the forum Anthony! I have to agree with you on all points! Nice style!!

Anthony, I did a short tutorial on making these rosettes. That might give you a better picture of the process I use. http://luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10117&t=16350&hilit=rosettes
