Hi All,

I just bought a board of jatoba. I'm thinking of using this in a laminated neck with purple heart. Any thoughts on using this wood for a neck?

Also I just brought it home from the supplier. How long do you recommend it acclimatize to the shop?

Any help much appreciated,

Stefan

Hi Stephan
I'm thinkin it would make a pretty heavy neck.
Lots of variables how long you should sticker it for.
you should get yourself a moisture meter, when the wood gets to be 6 to 8 % it,s good to go.

I'm far from an expert but my understanding is the it is similar to cherry which is fine for necks.

I have built several guitars using Jatoba for the back and sides - very stable, works easily, but weight is a problem for necks, and it seems very heavy to me.
