Hi All,
Hope you holidays went well. Here is a little baby gator done for a collector in Florida who asked for "an Everglades theme". Always wanted to do a baby gator and have seen plenty of adults, even as inlays, but the babies are black and yellow and have way more color.

Also- I have a small commission for some Taylor truss covers- I have an older cover here, but I am sure they changed the shape after 2004.

Can anyone send me either the template, or just the exact distance of the screw holes from center to center?
It would be appreciated!

Thanks, plenty more on the way!

Thanks as always, and I got the truss pattern so don't all go out opening your Taylor cases rushing to give me dimensions... laughing6-hehe

Looking at your inlay work is comparable to listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn play guitar.
Stunning...and inspiring !!!!

Incredible as always Craig but I think this is my favorite of all of the masterpieces that you have done and I have had the pleasure of viewing.

Any idea how many separate pieces of shell you used just for the baby gator?

Thanks again so much everyone :)

It's always wonderful to have such support for these things.
Hesh- How many pieces? That's the cool part- it's way less then it looks, but all the engraving makes it look like tons of teeny pieces! It's still in the 120 or more range, but not the over 300 or so it looks like. The lines play tricks with the break joints, and it works to a good extent.

More soon! Coming up next- a clown fish and anemone scene about mid fretboard..
Thanks again most sincerely,
Craig

You Never Disappoint.
What is the eye on that gator? It's spooky how it glows, and changes color from the two pics. Almost like he's thinking of what he'll do once he's bigger!
And I really admire the suggestion of swamp down the fretboard.
Very artistic.

Steve

Thanks again so much for all the support!
Steve the eye is black pearl outside, with a green ab piece of really green hue inside. My "stresser" on this piece was worrying that the glow would be sanded out and get into some other non-wanted color, but this time it worked. It really lights up a deep glowing green like in the images..

The grasses are all striped red abalone, and the water effect is sterling silver dust.

Sometimes I see inlay encrusted guitars and it just makes we want to puke. But not this one!

Beside just the joints, your routing is insanely tight, especially in a non-ebony base.

Thanks for continually sharing, and motivating.
