Well,
I finished these two features a little bit ago, and figured I'd share them.

The soundport is pretty standard except that I made a carved flamed maple "keying" piece that snaps in from the back with very strong magnets. If for some reason the player does not like the effect of the soundport, he can close it off, resulting in a marquetry effect inlay from the outside...

The rosette is pretty cool to me because the abalone (which are a great deal more red than what the pictures show) are a product of some diving I did off the west coast last spring...(I only took dead shells off of sand flats in permitted areas :))..I smashed them to flats, sanded them to blanks, and cut the ring...Pretty fun for me...

Thanks,
Stephen

Wow Stephen my friend this is going to be a great guitar. The sound port and magnet idea is just over to the top too. And the rosette is every bit as pretty as anyone could ever wish for!!!! [:Y:] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] One more clapping hand emoticon to come when she is finished. :D
