Some of you have seen a few construction shots of this guy.
Seems like a few shots of the finished instrument might be nice.
Back/sides are real old growth Cocobolo.
Top is very stiff Engelmann from Canada, eh?
Neck, mahog/cocobolo.
FB, ebony
Bridge, Af. Blackwood
PH Overlay, a lovely piece of Maylasian Blackwood from our very own Jeff Yong.
Bindings are some black Brazilian rosewood,
Trim is green heart abalone.
The sunburst is courtesy of Tony Ferguson.

The usual Kinnaird quality, and great to see a slot head on a 14 fretter. Sunburst and abalone, mmm. ;)

Another beauty Steve ! Your work never fails to inspire me.
That is some beautious CoCo !! And I really love that neck !
I don't see a lot of back strips that wide. Is that blackwood too?
It looks very nice like that! [:Y:]

Hi Rod, thanks! I'll pass your comment on to Tony.
Doug, I'm the man? My wife's gotta hear this!
Jim, thanks bro.
Arnt, I appreciate your comment...no, these photos were taken at a local studio by a friend who is a professional. He's taken a lot of guitar pics, but he said the sunburst was especially difficult to photograph.
Colin, I knew you, especially, would appreciate this guitar. I'm only sorry I let you down by not using Sitka.
Dave, thanks amigo. The backstrip is another piece of that dark Brazilian rosewood. I wouldn't do another strip this wide (well, I don't think I would). This back was glued up in the days of my youth, to borrow a phrase from Jimmy Page. Ryan convinced me to finally build something with it. Glad he did.

Thanks again!

Steve

That is exactly the kind of burst that I really enjoy - kind of Gibson like. VERY cool guitar Steve my friend and someone is going to be very lucky to have the honor of sharing their life with this one. [:Y:] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]

Steve,

Nice looking guitar - tasteful wood combinations and appointments as always. The one thing you haven't said is how it sounds? How does Englemann/Cocobolo work together and is this a heavy guitar?

Hopefully you have enough guitars before the Coco alergy kicks in to do a Sitka/Cocobolo one :D

Very tasty indeed. I love the dark finish and overall scale of the details.

Matt calls 'em like he sees 'em. (The trouble is, he's got a good eye...)
Hesh, as one jerk to another, I appreciate it! And seven clappers? Whoo boy, I'm honored!
Dave--how does it sound? Brad G. would say "nice". And he would be right. This may be the best sounding guitar I've built. The bass lacks that grand "whooomph" of a large box, but nonetheless it doesn't disappoint. Walking down the low E string, it just keeps going, and somehow supports those low tones. The trebles are fat...they just soar. It's perfectly balanced. Anyway, I wanted to keep this little guy. And by the way, when it was first strung up, it sounded sooo bad, I couldn't open the case for several days due to discouragement. Oh, and yes it's quite heavy, even for a small guitar.
Steve and Waddy, thanks. And Dave R, amen. May have to start tasing Matt, you know?

Steve

Thanks Brad, I appreciate your comment. Doesn't it seem odd to be doing something that's hand-built, and yet be chasing factory perfection? Man, can a guy win against those odds?

Mike, thank you for the deadly compliment. I do have another to post after this one, but I'll wait a bit. It's a fingerstyle, using woods from some of our sponsors:
Claro walnut back/sides from Larry Davis, and a WR Cedar top from Shane Neifer.

Beautiful! I am not a fan of bursts in general, but this one is so well integrated with choice of woods on the rest of the guitar, that it looks all of a piece... Probably a dumb question, but is the body a classical size? Is that what the CS stands for in the subject line?

Don, thanks for the thumbs-up!
I told Tony to capture the hues of the Cocobolo for the dark part of the burst.

No, my CS model is not a classical in size, but rather in inspiration.
This is an old Larivee shape (who may be re-introducing it now) that is inspired by classical guitars.
Actually it is a grand auditorium-sized box.

Steve

Oh my! I wish I could just dive into this computer screen and play her! Another top-drawer effort!

I too love that burst, and I'm sure she'll sound wonderful with that Canuck top, eh?

Alain, yes indeed...you'se guys got some great timbers up there.
By the way, I love your closing line. I use it often in my own shop...it comes in handy!

Andy, thanks bud! Your encouragement is all the more impressive, as this guitar is deplorably lacking in paw prints.
