Wondering if any OLF members have found a platina or blonde shellac that checks all the boxes? I used to use Kremer blonde but ran into some that wouldn't dissolve. I've been using super blonde from Shellac Finishes and while it dissolves admirably it doesn't sand quite as easily as I'd like.

Are you grinding the flakes first? I use an old coffee grinder.

Been using flakes from Shellac Shack out of Port Orford, Oregon. Haven't tried any others....good luck.

I also get mine from Shellac Finishes. No complaints here. I mix it with Everclear.

I've only ever gotten it from either Stew Mac or LMI and both seemed to be the same to me. I use a coffee grinder too. You can almost use it an hour later if you grind it to a fine powder.

I got a batch of blond years ago that would not dissolve after a month. I was told the batch was shipped to them during the summer and got hot in transit. Messed it all up.

I use LMII super blonde. Dissolves in Everclear in about 12 hours. I don't grind it, just dump the flakes in Everclear. Does not sand particularly well, clogs 1000g paper quickly when used dry, but I'm sanding between sessions and I'm sure the shellac is not well set up.

I get mine from Wood Essence. Processed in Germany. I think it is the same shellac that L.V sells, but less expensive.
