Hey Guys,

Anyone have a good source for cam clamps? I'm looking for a couple dozen. Don't have the luxury of time to make them though!

Got an upright bass waiting to have the top glued back on!

I got my 6 from here http://usaclamp.com/CamClampPage.aspx. Some of my most used tools [:Y:] Plus they're a buck cheaper if you buy 10 of the same size, which I suspect would be the case if you're using them for gluing a top on.

You could also whip up a batch of spool clamps instead of using cams (although if you don't have a few cams already, you definitely should get some). They're only about a buck apiece if you make them yourself, and quick to mass produce. Just buy a few 6ft threaded rods, box of wing nuts, some dowels, a roll of cork, and go to town. I think it took me 2 days to make my batch of 30, but it shouldn't be too tough to get more than that done in one.

+1 on usaclamps, their alum bar clamps are great too. If wetzler made a cam clamp there might be a choice. T

I got all mine from Lee Valley, although I have heard you can get the Klemsia's cheaper in bulk through one of the hardware vendors who I can't remember. Lee Valley prices are decent for the Klemsia's. A number of people have commented on earlier threads that the Grizzly clamps are dreck, in contrast to some comments above. I have not used them personally so I don't know, just passing along hearsay.

John,

I purchased some Shop Fox clamps as shown on your Grizzly link a couple years ago (although not from Grizzly).

The 4" Shop Fox clamps I purchased seem to work pretty good - but all the 6" ones I purchased were junk.

I personally wouldn't purchase them again.

Have you had better luck with these?

Hard to beat StewMac--6 or more at $13.12 for the short and comparable for the long throat. I will say that when I can, I like to buy from the "little" guys, though. When one of our members did a run years ago, I bought some from him.

sounds great:) I'm in no rush ... still just gearing up (eternally it seems), but really need to finish a few more renos before I can get away with too much else.... so don't hurry on account of me:)
