Is there any company out there that is making a stock case for a 12-fret dread? I haven't had much luck finding one here in Canada. I'm also looking for one that doesn't say Martin on it.

Thanks for the help

Josh

Thanks Todd, I'm not sure why I didn't think of that myself.

It depends on the dimensions of the 12 fretter. Unless the cases have changed in the last couple years a modern Martin 12 fret D (D18VS, HD28VS) will fit in a "normal" TKL dread case. An older Martin 12 fretter (my 1973 D18S) won't fit.

Hi Josh

I just looked at my D size case the double arch style the Gary Gauger has at Heinl and it looks like a round shoulder 12 fret D might fit. If I had a 12 fret D template I would check for you, Gary told me a 12 fret 000 would fit in the 000/OM case he has and I tried it on one I had here and he was right but it was a little tight on the 12 fret body I was building but did fit in and a finished body would probably slip in easier.

Hi guys, Thanks for the help. The shape I'm building is a Gibson slope shoulder.

Fred, I buy almost all my cases from Gary. The the body fits fine in one of the dread cases he stocks, the problem is the neck length. I built a 13-fret dread a couple months ago and it wasn't a great fit due to the slightly shorter neck. I'm sure a 12-fret neck would not fit that case at all.

Todd, I'll give the Geib style case from Elderly a try.

Josh
