Chocolate Mango from RC Tonewoods;
I had to snap these pics quick because the new owner was
there to pick it up & fly to Norway.

I restored a 1850 Martin a few years ago.
It was left in a barn for 50 years in the original coffin case.
I took measurements of it .
Then made some replicas.
except for the ice cream heel .
I made them for steel strings with the 25.4 modern Martin scale
X bracing etc...
They sell like crazy because of the size & tone.
My bracing is my own, as are wood thickness
It had C.F. Martin signature on the lower treble side of the top
on the inside of course
Piece of history !!!
mike :D

Nice!!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
