Hello,

I'm thinking about using one of the Torrefied soundboards from StewMac to pair with a nice set of EIR I have here. I'm curious if any of the Endurovar users out there have had a chance to work with Torrefied wood and might have a pic to share of how it looks. With the Endurovar being amber tinted and the darker look of the Torrefied board, I'm wondering what the results look like?

Any pics or experience with Torrefied wood is appreciated! I read there are some glue up issues. I use Titebond, but I can try HHG if needed.

Thanks!
Brad

I used EV Satin over Stewmac torrefied sitka. I sealed it with shellac first.

Looks good, Craig! It looks like it might even eliminate some of the yellowing effect I've been getting with EV on bearclaw Sitka. Did you have any issues with glue-up? What glue do you use?

Done lots of torrefied. Titebond. Maybe a slather more (generally I'm very sparing) glue, and clamped longer.

No other colorant, so what you see is what you get. I've used all the standard glues without difficulty, just need to wet it out good and not squeeze to a dry joint. Torrefied sitka from SM is brittle, however, handle with care. I've been very pleased with the two guitars I have built with it, probably my best ever.

I've built a pair with SW torrefied tops. Had great results tone wise. Both over a year old. No issues with the glue joint. One I used tight bond standard the other hot hide glue. Strive for intimate contact on your glue joint without a starved joint.
Happy building!
