I am looking for a German Spruce top with VERY even color. Any suggestions.

I have contacted http://www.germanspruce.com and http://www.best-eurospruce.com. I have a top from LMII that did not satisfy my costumer. Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Are you looking specifically for spruce of German origin or European spruce in general? If the latter, you may want to try Swiss spruce from Florinett. It is very high quality and the master and AAA sets I have from them are very consistent and light in color.

I will second the comment about Florinet in Switserland. Very nice quality. And very nice people as well!
If you are really looking for German spruce, you might try Gleissner in Bubenreuth.
I also really like the spruce of Rivolta in Italy.

I'm ridiculously picky about tops -- absolutely no runout - none !!! I buy the best from LMI and a few select dealers. I return 95% with larger orders of around 50 tops. Long story short. I have a really nice Carpathian Spruce top with some very slight runout. You'll have to order quite a few tops and luck out to find one as nice as this. Very, very slight difference in color across the centerline and nice, clean, grain. I have photos of the top if you want to email me at info@fayguitars.com. I'd want $90 + shipping for it - the same as what I paid (bulk discount for a $4k order).

Two words, Aaron Hix.

He has beautiful German spruce and his wood is top shelve

Doesn't John primarily carry Carpathian? I know it's essentially the same, but if someone is picky!

Thank you everyone. I will check out all those leads. I did buy one of Aaron's. Can not wait until it gets here.
