Wonder if any one has built a 13 fret dread..? Thinking of doing it and leave the sound hole in the same location, shorten the board the equivalent of the 13 to 14 fret distance, and stiffen up the bracing a bit. Hoping to get the standard dread sound but with a bit more mids. Any comments appreciated.

I did a 13 fret OOO and the changes were minimal. IIRC the bridge moved about 1/4" and I shifted the X the same amount. Can't remember if I moved the sound hole or not. Pretty minor.

With a 25.34" Martin scale, the distance between the 13th and 14th frets is about 0.67".

That should work just fine.
I don't see any need to stiffen the bracing.....just move the X-braces and tone bars down by 0.67". That way, the relationship between the bridge and the X-braces is maintained.
Martin 12-fret dreads have the same bracing cross-sections as the 14-fretters.

And if I had remembered the obvious (as John stated) I would have noted it was the 13-14 fret distance idunno Regardless, I didn't think it was that difficult to move everything around.
