The only guitar work I've done recently is remove the bridge from a Fender Starcaster POS and start collecting cheap old parlor guitars to practice repairs on.

It's not so much about what I've done in the shop as what I've done to the shop:

All the sheathing ( = interior walls and ceiling) is on, insulation is started. :D

Dan, that shop is the bees knees!

Eddy, I'm wondering, what's the radius of a u-turn on a rig like that.

Sent this little guy, my Opus shape, off to its new owner last week. Honduras mahogany/Lutz EIR and ebony details. Also working on a new shape, somewhat bigger than this one, along the same lines.

Pat,
In deep water (60'+) I can do a full circle in just under a .5 mile radius! In shallow water, forget about, I have to drag an anchor and hope the wind and current are in my favor!

Dan, sometimes I think that its always been about the shop for you. Maybe this time you'll get it built and then stay there!

Very nice Pat! What tuners did you use there?

Nothing much guitar related - just signed the contract for my first commission. Other than that I've been making christmas presents mostly, for my girlfriend and sister and brother in law. Still needs some more varnish though...

I haven't posted much here in quite a while. Everybodys work is looking so Good!
Here's my first electric guitar.I thought I'd try a Tele with a stacked humbucker
in the bridge pickup and mini humbucker made by my friend Jim Bonnell in the neck PU.
Notice the switch-Bill Kirchen style. It's sounding pretty good ...but it's back to acoustics.

Here's my little apprentice and granddaughter wet sanding the Tele! Only 3 and shes already
got the luthier bug.She loves helping me.

Mine Beth? I cut the Pink ivory wide enough to cover the curve , bent it , fitted it in and guled it in . THEN carefully carved the extra down to proper thickness . The Inside was a P.A.I.N. lol

Pat : What a beautiful little guitar. The perfect example of less is more. I hope you don't mind me describing it as such. CONGRATS.

I spent my Saturday afternoon buffing out the latest body - which went great!

Then in the evening I made a mess of drilling the tuner holes . . . and in my haste to fix my mistake . . . removed a chunk of my thumb with my Olfa blade . . . and spent a few hours in emergency gaah

Thank goodness that my reckless mistake wasn't made with a power tool.

So here I am on my day off, having the coffee I should have had right after making the original mistake, cheesed off that I'm not in my shop or playing guitar. So it goes, this time around.

Thanks for posting all the beautiful work, by the way. And for those who are off-shore, stay safe.

Phil

Thanks, David. Just curious. I'm surprised it's not more.

Thanks, Doug, Tom,

Tuners are Waverly with ebony buttons.

Tom, less can be more, unless it's not enough!

Starting the fretboards for a new neckthrough model tomorrow. I had to get this tooling together first.

In the foreground is a vacuum fixture for the fretboard. Just behind that is a form fitting support block that will be used both when gluing the fretboard to the neck and when pressing in the frets. Behind that is the caul that will be used to press in the frets. I'll tap them in about 75% of the way and use that hydraulic press in the rear to fully install them.
