So routing holes in a plank and slapping on a neck and some PU's from some parts house may be a nice hobby...but sorry dudes, it don't be qualify as looferin to me. Is junior high shop class to me thinking and well ?adma, him trys nots to think...hurts me head.

...yes, there be some really high end wood chops out there stringin up planks, so you don't go be thinkin ?adma be dissin lectrics...me first build was an electric bass and that was over 50 years ago, and yes me still build the odd screamer...but me don't consider that loofering.

#5 So best watch your thoughts so the neg $hit, they don't be transferred to the wood. Unless of course you into building for acid rockers, heavy metal or punk bands.

I/ve tried talking to my wood dr padma, but it just won/t listen to me, or do what I would like it to do.Do you have a remedy??

You need to follow his rule #1. That's the crucial one. Follow #1 and things will be much easier.

I got good nuts with my hoofering as well. When I get to playing with lecksity and wires there be another bridge to cross as I don't discount the expertise required to do it well. There are subtleties there I don't know about.

Padma . I must have a slight problem with my pineal gland (had to look it up) because when I was living in van in 60/s 70/s 80/s. I always felt sleepy/dopey on overcast/rainy days.Now that I live way furthur south I get more sunshine and not as dopey/sleepy.

Ya Flipo...maybe thats whats missing on dis here forum...fertilizer and respect...maybe we could all chip in and get Lance a goat for a forum mascot.

I think the original post was too inclusive. As far as I'm concerned, to be a luthier, you have to build lutes. (Solid body, humbucker, bolt-on neck lutes are fine.) I've never built a lute, and don't plan to, so I'm off the hook.

If I wait until my mind clears, I'll never do anything. I'm slow enough as it is.

The wood won't listen to me, so I try to listen to the wood.

Padma, I'm glad you're back. I like to hear different voices. (I mean building styles, not prose styles--well, I guess I enjoy different prose styles as well.)

As for politics or past spats, well, I don't go to the doctor for advice on how to build guitars, and I don't come here for a political discussion. (I listen when legal advice is offered here, because it's the only legal advice I can afford.) I'm always happy when we can forget about a past argument, and get back to guitars. When I was younger, I could remember to be angry long after I'd forgotten what I was angry about. Now, I can't even remember to be angry. Who needs youth? (Sour grapes? I forget, what are grapes?)

Yer right Ecic...me has even built a few once upon a time. But they didn't gotts no 'lectics in them. In fact me gotts another one nearly finished...will post pic for you soon enough.
