I will be implementing a few new features here starting this evening.
You will soon be able to LIKE a thread with in the OLF. It will be a thumbs up icon that you can click.
Its a way to show your appreciation of a post with out responding. Use it like you would a facebook Like button.
We will be keeping our facebook Like button as well.

Also, there will be a integrated eBay search box that will take you right to eBay. Its a widget of sorts.
It is part of an affiliate program that I signed up for. So in essence, every time you buy something on eBay (anything) if you started your search though our eBay box, you will be sending a little love our way and help keep the OLF running strong! Our Amazon link works the same way.

Hope you guys and gals LIKE and USE the new stuff!

Thanks again!
Lance

Sounds great Lance, I buy quite often from eBay and Amazon so I'll be sure and link them from here for the added "love."

Thanks Joe!

The Amazon link is in the Deals and Sales box.
The eBay (should) be at the top of each forum once its in place.

I am buying on eBay often as well, Lance, so I'll be happy to do my buying through the OLF, and send a little scratch your way!

This is where a Thumbs up button would be perfect!

I didn't know about the Amazon link. I use them fairly often and will start connecting through the OLF from here forward.

Thanks George! Guess its time to promote the Amazon AND eBay link. Seems to have fallen off the radar.

OK the "Thanks" button is functional, Use it like you would a facebook LIKE, to show appreciation for a post or comment.

You may also have noticed the facebook LIKE display above. This is connected to our OLF Facebook page. Feel free to LIKE it if you want [:Y:]

The eBay search box will take a little longer to get in place. Watch for it though :-)

Hope everyone likes the new enhancements!

Is there a function to allow for some sort of notification to be pushed to the thankee, so that they know they were thanked (by whom and for what post)? I see them showing up under posts but the author of a post probably will never go back and read the post to see the thank yous. If I thank someone,I'd like them to actually know I appreciated them. . .

Oh cripes ... if it's through the PM system we're screwed. That will be incentive to make sure one doesn't say anything to be thanked for! laughing6-hehe

Filippo

Just to be clear. If I click on the Ebay button on the OLF screen, OLF will see some proceeds from the purchase?

Danny, if you click on the eBay OR Amazon banner, follow it through and end up purchasing something, the OLF will get a % of the sale and it will not cost the buyer 1cent more. It's a thank you from eBay and Amazon for directing you there.

I see the eBay search box when I use Explorer, but not when I use Firefox (which is what I always use).

Thanks Alain
Hopefully we can work out the bugs so it works on all the main browsers

These are great additions bliss

I use Amazon for a ton of stuff, because lots of things I need aren't readily available
near me. So I can start here, and support the OLF [:Y:] [:Y:]

Lance, a bit of feedback. I, personally, love the thanks button. But the stars are making things a bit cluttered, visually, IMO.

+1. Wondering if we'll just visually adapt to it.

Filippo

+2. I think it's just that 10 stars is a bit excessive... would it be difficult to change to a 5 star meter? Also the fact that they're pretty much the same color as the "new post" icon makes things harder to see.

Another thing is, would it be possible to make the "thanks" button instant, rather than going to another page? Kind of a pain waiting for it to reload. But I definitely like having it either way.

 Yeah, it definitely needs to be a separate notification group. A different forum I frequent has that. Plus you get notifications when people quote your posts, which pop up in the same group as "thanks" notifications. And the "thanks" button works without reloading the page. Quite posh. But what we have here now is a great start :)

I reduced the stars from 10 to 4 in an effort to make them less visible.
