So I just got a bottle of the white glue from LMI. $8.00 for the glue, $22.00 for the postage. Sometimes this bugs me.

That's some "Special" glue. Just think how much it would be without NAFTA

Did they charge a Hazmat fee? I wasn't aware white glue was a hazardous substance. I just got a 30lb. box of wood and goodies from them, shipping was $16.50.

No Hazmat fees. Total weight was given as 2 lbs. The invoice just says postage and handling $21.95. I guess since it was coming to Canada...

I feel your pain. Was it Fedex or UPS? They charge nasty brokerage fees. I usually try to go USPS and save up until I need to place a big order...But that borderline sure hurts sometimes...

I got a set of plans from Stewmac - shipping was about $25 USD. Received a back and side set from B.C. today that was shipped by Canada Post on the 27th. Total shipping was $18.50. I thought that was very reasonable. Do Americans get ripped on shipping from Canada? I've gotten creamed a couple of times by UPS brokerage fees to the point that I won't buy from the USA unless it is shipped by USPS.

Anything under 70lbs is cheaper with USPS. I work for them them. The handling fees are up to the sender.

As soon as anything needs to cross an international border the cost goes up, regardless of who's shipping it. Some (UPS) are just worse than others. Shipping out of Canada to the US is outragious but as Pat just showed, so is shipping to Canada from the US....

I'm so glad I live in a border town and my Aunt lives only 15 mins away on the US side...I have stuff shipped there all the time so I don't have to pay the international shipping.
