Well I thought I'd bring you all on another adventure. This is a commissioned build in what I consider my "Muse" Line. This guitar will have my Custom cutaway (patent pending), a "Y" laminate neck, My "Mono Point" fret board (also patent pending), and an armrest bevel. Most of those things won't make sense until you see them, but here's the other specs.

Lutz spruce - top
Koa - Back and sides
Bloodwood - binding and accents

Also, at some point during this build I'll be building a new shop as well as doubling the square footage of my house. So please don't get upset if a few construction photos get mixed in.

The future owner was taken by the shapely Womens figure in this set of Koa and quickly reserved it for his guitar.

The neck will have my elevated fret board design that will take shape further down the road. That's why it seems long.

The beginnings of my "Y" laminate neck.

This was my first time using the side bending machine. Amazing, I'm a believer now.

Both sides and the binding bent in one evening, I could get used to this.

Looks awesome. I love the rosette. Very ingenious. What's the pics of the blood wood accents? Are those on the inside of the box?

I find a few extra minutes spent on the inside to make it look unique is worth the investment if down the road someone with an eye for detail is impressed with the workmanship on all levels. I believe in creating things that every time someone picks up the guitar they notice something that they didn't see before.

Very nice work so far. I agree that the small details on the inside of the box are worth the small amount of extra time. It probably takes all of 5 minutes to lay up the purfling and binding to make the side supports but when people finally do notice it, they say, "Wow!"
I like your style! I spend a lot of time sanding the inside of my boxes so they are nice and smooth. I chamfer the side supports by hand as well. Takes a bit more time, but I enjoy it.
They say that it's not what you do when people are looking that counts, it's what you do when nobody is looking. I think that is very true. I also feel that craftsmanship is not determined by what you can see, but by what you can't see. You know that probably 95% of the people who ever see that guitar will not notice your tail block or your side supports, but you spent the time to make the beautiful anyway. Beautiful work.

Did you route one big circle or are the blonde micro lines a second route?

Or is it a blonde piece of trim,,,,,I like the uneven shape,,,nice work

As stated in the beginning, this build has spanned a much longer time than I wanted. After a new shop, 1000+ ft2 added to my house, while still working a full time job I finally finished this build. But I'll go back to where I left off. Just realize about 12 Months had past before the build continued. This will take several posts so bear with me.

Wow! I love everything about it! You have a great sense of design.
What's going on with the UTB being attached to the rims before the top? Also does the fingerboard extension press down on the top at all?

The extension does touch the soundboard. So much discusion on neck transferance with its effect on sound, I decided to try designing the neck to bring those vibrations to the soundboard yet still keeping it separate from the X bracing. Purely just an experiment, but the results have been promising.

Hmm interesting... Did you reinforce the neck-heel joint at all? With the fingerboard flying, I guess there must be quite a bit of stress on it.
