I keep a bunch of pads and towels..... on my bench to protect gits in progress. Always a hodge podge and a mess. I had a piece of carpet for a while but it held more hidden hazards than it prevented.

As gits get closer and during finishing I end up putting down a layer of paper towel that I can throw away with grit or other scratchy stuff and change out. But the PTowel routine is a PITA, and hard to vacuum off to extend their life.

I came across a pak of doggie training pads we had but never used, and they are frickin perfect git work pads! At about $35/100 it's cheaper than paper towels.

These ones came from Tractor Supply, extra large, Retriever Brand. Not much (if any) lint either!

Nice tip. I work in hospitals and bring home a few large disposable incontinence sheets, which are the same type of product.
