Lee Valley does every year - this one is excellent:

For past entries - including the gang dovetail saw and the unmarked tape measure - just google Lee Valley April Fools

It is a beautiful tool but not quite sure what I would do with it. Oh well, money saved

I'll bet they would sell a few if they made it. There are plenty of fancy tools being made and sold that have limited utility.
Has anyone bought the unmarked tape measure. It is useful enough that they actually make and sell it. It is like have a storypole you can put in your pocket. We used to use storypoles in the cabinet trade.

I bought one of the tapes to use as a story stick. I'll hand it to someone occasionally, and ask them to take a measurement for me. Always gets a giggle!
