I've used Z-Poxy as a filler once on natural wood and worked fine but now I want to do a sunburst. If I use nitro lacquer for the "burst" and clear coats, would I do the "burst" 1st, having it under the Z-Poxy and then cover the Z-Poxy with clear?

I've never sprayed a burst on a porous wood, but I have sprayed tinted nitro on epoxy filled wood. Think neck. I epoxy pore fill, level, then shoot clear nitro a coat or two, then level, then colored nitro, then more clear, then level/buff.
What is your plan? Koa top with shading?

Looking good. If that were mine, I do it the same way. Epoxy fill to level, nitro clear, level, tinted nitro/burst, clear level, buff.

Pore fill and seal before the burst. Make sure the surface is nice and flat or it may look spotty. This also give the option to strip the burst and try again should it go wrong....

OK, thanks for the plan --- I think it's stopped raining for a while, maybe I'll get the pore filling done later this week
