was browsing members and noticed the forum is at 9,990... don't know if that's any kind of record, but I am impressed that any forum has existed for so long. [:Y:]

There is a lot of information here and my guess is a lot of people join to gather it. Only a few of us seem to be really active. I was a member for a few years before I started 'talking.'

I actually met a member here who had never posted, but checks in often. He was coming through Charlotte, and asked if he could drop by. Nice visit.

Ha! In that post I predicted 10k in Sept. 2016. So much for my math skills.

There are several fora that I belong to and have never posted in. Joining places like this are good ways to build up a background of knowledge abut a topic or hobby without having to fumble along or ask a bunch of questions. You just have to be willing to read a whole lot of discussions and start to form you own opinions and learn the shorthand terminology. You also have to spend some time to figure out a bit about the players and decide for yourself who to listen to the closest.

Some communities are better than others. Some are bad bordering on toxic. I choose to engage (rather than just lurk) here because this is a pretty good place and I have made several friends here as well as gotten a lot of great info.
