I bought a sheet of double sided tape from hobby lobby .but don/t like it much I used it to mount a spalted sycamore 1/16in pickguard on a baritone uke. I was watching john hall polish a tortoiseshell pickguard ina video and then he had a large roll of tape that he used to mount the pickguard .Does anyone know where I can buy some good tape at a reasonable price ?? thanks

Any use?
"Clear polyester tape with adhesive on both sides, for holding router templates and attaching acoustic guitar pickguards.
2" wide x 108 feet (50mm wide x 33 meters long)."

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I'm on my 2nd 6" wide roll of 3M 467. The rolls are very long, many hundreds of meters. Don't recall the exact length. 1st roll lasted 20 years and I'm about 10 years into the 2nd roll. If you keep it dry, the adhesive keeps just fine. I use it mostly for inlay, occasional pick guards, all my instrument labels, and jig holding. It is hard to find. First roll came from somewhere in Kentucky. When I needed my second roll, I called 3M corporate HQ to find it. They found me a place in Kansas City, which supplied the roll. Not cheap stuff, but worth every penny. Good luck.

3M 467 or 465 is what I have used for many, many years. It is 2 mils of adhesive, no tape.
I have bought 4", 6", and 12" wide rolls....all of which were 60 yards long. That is a bunch of pickguards.

Yep, that's the stuff. Lots of different prices around. 6" wide rolls would be my preference. Good stuff! And as John said, it is not tape, just a very thin adhesive.
