Its proving very difficult to find a good supplier of any of the mahoganys big enough for a one piece neck.

Any tips would be fantastic.

Bob at timberline (exotic hardwoods) usually carries genuine hog in various sizes. i´m sure if you write mad inter or barber in spain they can get you pieces in the sides you need (certainly so if you don´t mind using khaya). another option could be Espen, in Germany.

Keystone tonewoods sells 3x4 inch blanks so you can cut 2 one piece necks from it,i use them and it is great quality stuff.All the best Roby.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
